漂珠是一種能浮于水面的粉煤灰空心球，呈灰白色，壁薄中空，顆粒細、重量輕，高強耐磨、表面封閉而光滑，熱導率小，耐火度高、保溫絕緣、應力應變均勻等多種功能，廣泛用于耐火、保溫材料的生產和在塑料、涂料、油漆油墨、陶瓷、封裝材料、地板膠、石油鉆探等領域作增強性填充料。能既有效地改善產品性能或施工效果，又明顯地降低生產成本，現已廣泛應用于耐火材料的原料之中。

【漂珠特性】

1、高耐火度：漂珠的主要化學成分為硅、鋁的氧化物，其中二氧化硅（SiO2)約為50-65%，三氧化二鋁(Al2O3)約為25-35%。因為二氧化硅（SiO2)的溶點高達1725攝氏度，三氧化二鋁(Al2O3)的溶點為2050攝氏度，均為高耐火物質。因此，漂珠具有的耐火度，一般達1600-1700攝氏度，使其成為的耐火材料。

2、質輕、保溫隔熱：漂珠壁薄中空，空腔內為半真空，只有極微量的氣體(N2、H2及CO2等)，熱傳導極慢極微。所以漂珠不但質輕(容重250-450kg/m3)，而且保溫隔熱(導熱系數常溫0.08-0.1)，這為其在輕質保溫隔熱材料領域大顯身手奠定了基礎。

3、硬度大、強度高：由于漂珠是以硅鋁氧化物礦物相(石英和莫來石)形成的堅硬玻璃體，硬度可達莫氏6-7級，靜壓強度高達70-140MPa，真密度2.10-2.20g/cm3，因此，漂珠具有很高的強度。一般輕質多孔或中空材料如珍珠巖、沸巖、硅藻土、海浮石、膨脹蛭石等均是硬度差、強度差，用其制的保溫隔熱制品或輕質耐火制品，都有強度差的缺點。他們的短處恰恰是漂珠的長處，所以漂珠就更有競爭優(yōu)勢，用途更廣。

4、電絕緣性，不導電：選去磁珠后的漂珠，是性能的絕緣材料，不導電。一般絕緣體的電阻均隨溫度的升高而降低，漂珠則相反，隨溫度的升高電阻增大。這一優(yōu)點是其他絕緣材料都不具備的。所以，它可以制作是性能的高溫條件下的絕緣材料制品。

5、粒度細，比表面積大：漂珠自然形成的粒度為1-250微米。比表面積300-360g/cm2，和水泥差不多。因此，漂珠不需粉磨，可直接使用。細度可滿足各種制品的需要，其他輕質保溫材料一般粒度都很大(如珍珠巖等)，如果粉磨就會大幅度增加容量，使隔熱性大大降低。

【漂珠用途】
